Bajaj Allianz bike insurance is now sold as Bajaj General Insurance. On 7 October 2025, Bajaj Finserv renamed Bajaj Allianz General Insurance as Bajaj General Insurance after acquiring Allianz SE's 26% stake, making the business fully Bajaj-owned. Existing Bajaj Allianz policies continue as before. The insurer, the policy terms and the claim process are the same, and only the name on new documents has changed.
This review covers Bajaj General's two-wheeler plans, premium range, add-ons, claim process and what its published claims figures actually mean, with the strengths and the limits set out side by side.
| Point | Detail, as stated by Bajaj General |
|---|---|
| Current name | Bajaj General Insurance, formerly Bajaj Allianz General Insurance |
| Plans | Comprehensive, third-party, standalone own-damage and compulsory personal accident cover |
| Cashless network | 10,000+ network garages |
| Quick claims | Motor On-the-Spot (OTS) settles eligible two-wheeler claims up to ₹10,000 within 20 minutes through its app |
| Starting premium | From ₹538, which is the fixed third-party premium for bikes up to 75 cc |
| Claims helpline | 1800-209-5858 |
Three features stand out. The stated garage network is large. The OTS feature lets owners settle small claims through self-inspection on the app, without waiting for a surveyor. And the add-on list covers most needs, from zero depreciation to tyre protection.

| Plan | What it covers | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Third-party (TP) cover | Death or injury to others without an upper limit, and damage to others' property up to ₹1 lakh for two-wheelers | Older, low-value bikes, and the legal minimum under Section 146 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 |
| Comprehensive cover | TP cover plus own-damage (OD) cover for the bike against accident, theft, fire and natural events | Most bikes under five years old |
| Standalone OD cover | OD cover only, for bikes that already have a valid TP policy | Bikes bought after September 2018 that carry long-term TP |
| Compulsory personal accident cover | ₹15 lakh for the owner-driver's death or permanent disability | Required unless the owner holds a qualifying personal accident policy |
The ₹1 lakh limit on third-party property damage for two-wheelers is stated by both Bajaj General and New India Assurance, and applies across insurers.
New bikes sold since 1 September 2018 carry a five-year TP policy, usually with one year of OD. On 4 August 2026, the Supreme Court raised the mandatory TP term to six years for new two-wheelers and directed IRDAI to issue the implementing instructions.
TP premium is fixed by the Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance Base Premium and Liability) Rules, 2022 and is the same at Bajaj General as at every other insurer. OD premium is priced by Bajaj General itself, so the table uses the former India Motor Tariff rates as a benchmark, for a bike up to five years old in a Zone A city.
| Bike type, example | Annual TP (₹) | OD benchmark, new bike (₹) | OD benchmark, 3-year-old (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commuter up to 150 cc, Hero Splendor Plus at about ₹77,000 | 714 | 1,249 | 921 |
| 150 cc class, Bajaj Pulsar 150 at ₹1,11,197 | 714 | 1,804 | 1,329 |
| 150 cc to 350 cc, Bajaj Pulsar NS200 at ₹1,38,302 | 1,366 | 2,356 | 1,736 |
| Above 350 cc, KTM 390 Duke R at ₹3,39,001 | 2,804 | 6,051 | 4,459 |
The OD benchmark applies the former tariff rates of 1.708% of IDV up to 150 cc, 1.793% for 150 cc to 350 cc, and 1.879% above 350 cc, to an IDV of 95% of the ex-showroom price for a new bike and 70% for a 3-year-old one. IDV, the Insured Declared Value, is the most the insurer pays on theft or total loss. Figures exclude GST, no-claim bonus, add-ons and personal accident cover, and Bajaj General's actual quote can be higher or lower. The five-year TP premium for a new bike is ₹2,901 up to 75 cc, ₹3,851 for 75 cc to 150 cc, ₹7,365 for 150 cc to 350 cc and ₹15,117 above 350 cc.
No-claim bonus (NCB), the discount on OD premium for claim-free years, reduces these figures by 20% after one claim-free year, rising to 50% after five. For example, a 3-year-old Pulsar NS200 with three claim-free policy years earns a 35% NCB, which brings its OD benchmark from ₹1,736 to about ₹1,128.
The claim settlement ratio is the share of claims an insurer settles out of those it receives. Bajaj General's own blog lists a two-wheeler claim settlement ratio of 98.83% in its 2025 comparison table. That is the insurer's own reported figure, and other Bajaj group pages quote slightly different numbers for different periods, so treat it as a broad indicator rather than a precise measure.
A few points help put any ratio in context.
The official source is the insurer's public disclosure. IRDAI's guidelines require general insurers to publish each year the number of claims paid and repudiated, with percentages, and their claim turnaround times. Bajaj General publishes these under the financial information section of its website.
Bajaj General states that its two-wheeler cover gives access to 10,000+ network garages. A cashless claim means the insurer pays the garage directly, and the owner pays only the deductible and any costs the policy does not cover, such as depreciation on parts without zero depreciation cover.
Under Bajaj General's claim process, vehicles repaired at one of its preferred network workshops are eligible for cashless settlement, while repairs elsewhere are handled as reimbursement claims. Before buying, use the garage locator on Bajaj General's website to confirm that an authorised service centre for the bike's brand near home is in the network. A nationwide count matters less than having a good garage nearby.
Before buying, it is sensible to set Bajaj General's quote against two-wheeler insurance plans from other insurers on Insure24, using the same IDV and add-ons so the comparison is fair.
Settlement. For cashless claims, Bajaj General pays the workshop directly after repair. For reimbursement, submit the original invoice and payment receipt.
FIR copy for theft, major damage or third-party involvement
For eligible two-wheeler claims up to ₹10,000, Bajaj General's Motor OTS feature lets the owner file through the app, upload photographs of the damage, licence and registration certificate, and receive a proposed claim amount by SMS. If accepted, the amount is paid to the bank account, and Bajaj General states that settlement can happen within 20 minutes. The OTS helpline is 1800-266-6416.
| Add-on | What it does | Most useful for |
|---|---|---|
| Zero depreciation | Pays full cost of replaced parts, without the standard 50% deduction on plastic, rubber and batteries or 30% on fibreglass | Newer bikes, and sports bikes with fairings |
| 24x7 roadside assistance | Towing, breakdown and flat tyre help | Daily commuters and touring riders |
| Engine protection | Covers engine damage from water ingress or oil leakage, which standard OD excludes | Riders in flood-prone cities |
| Consumable expenses | Pays for oil, nuts, bolts and similar items used in repairs | Lower out-of-pocket costs on each claim |
| Tyre safeguard | Covers tyre damage beyond standard cover | Owners of bikes with costly tyres |
| Conveyance benefit | Allowance for travel while the bike is being repaired | Riders who depend on the bike daily |
| Return to invoice | Pays invoice value, not IDV, on theft or total loss | New bikes |
Add-on availability depends on the bike's age and model, so check the list on the actual quote.
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Large stated network of 10,000+ garages | Garage counts vary across Bajaj group pages, so confirm the nearest workshop directly |
| OTS self-inspection settles small two-wheeler claims up to ₹10,000 quickly | Larger claims still go through a normal survey |
| Broad add-on list, including tyre safeguard and conveyance benefit | Add-on eligibility depends on bike age, and each one raises the premium |
| Several support channels, including dedicated claims, roadside and OTS helplines | Documents and communication may carry either the old or the new name during the transition |
| Existing Bajaj Allianz policies continue unchanged after the rebrand | The claim settlement ratio quoted is the insurer's own figure and varies across its pages |
